Twenty-two female students from Maine HS District 207 enjoyed all the aspects of cosmetology. Under the guidance of instructor Kandi Corbbins, students learned shampooing & hair drying, curling & styling, braiding & natural hair care, makeup & facial care, and hair cutting. They also focused on worth ethic, personal ethic, communication in the workplace, and teamwork.
Evanston HS District 202 iKIT Interns worked 30 hours weekly
for ten weeks at local employer
partners. The summer interns engaged in hands-on learning in
construction/trades, health care, and graphic arts pathways. Students were placed at Benvenuti & Stein Home Builders and Westminster Place Senior Living. One student was hired at
Benvenutie & Stein at the end of the internship program.
Local elementary students in Maine 207's district participated in the Elementary STEM camp in June. Each student took part in three different modules this year: the Cable Car Challenge, Straw Tower, and Robotic Maneuvers. These events gave students an opportunity to explore various interests that could lead to future coursework and careers in STEM fields. Parents reported that the camp is very beneficial to the community for promoting alternative ways for students to have fun while learning besides traditional summer camps.
